Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Program

Turkish Cargo has launched its Corporate SAF Program to promote the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), one of the most effective methods for reducing carbon emissions in the aviation industry.
Through this program, Turkish Cargo actively contributes to global carbon reduction targets by offering more sustainable transportation options to its business partners.

What is CO₂ emission?

The emissions presented are approximate values obtained from the average of all direct flights operated in the past year. Emissions for flights listed and displayed on this page may differ from the approximation presented.

What is CO₂ emission?
CO2 emission is generation and releasing of carbon dioxide molecules into the atmosphere. These emissions are caused by the combustion of kerosene-based jet fuel in the aircraft’s turbine engines. During the process, the fuel’s carbon atoms combine with oxygen in the air, resulting in the release of CO2 directly into the upper atmosphere.

Approximation of flight emissions
The CO2 emissions are calculated from historical fuel consumption data as defined in the IATA Recommended Practice 1678 Cargo CO2 Emissions Measurement Methodology. The emissions value displayed on this page shows emissions generated from fuel combustion only. The upstream emissions, emissions generated due to handling (such as cargo storage in the warehouse, handling devices and vehicles etc.) or administrative processes (such as the operation of buildings, staff commuting etc.) are not included.
Emissions are calculated by allocating fuel consumption of commercial and freighter flights to revenue load (passenger, belly cargo, cargo and mail). Then, the emissions are calculated for our entire cargo network, meaning that the average CO2 emissions, generated by the transportation of one kilogram of cargo per kilometer for all routes Turkish Cargo carries, is computed.
